The following article is a brief description of the William Yeoward Crystal brand. As a top luxury brand, its impressive range of designer crystal pieces demand coverage. More than just a pioneer of designer glassware, William Yeoward will surprise many with the depth and quality of its products.
For those who do not know the William Yeoward brand, then you have simply been missing out. A pioneer in luxury design, it is William Yeoward's Crystal that incites most interest. Inspired by the antique crystal designs from the Eighteenth and early Nineteenth centuries, each of William Yeowards Crystal pieces are individually hand crafted using the same methods employed some 150 years ago, the creation process being preformed entirely by the skilled employees of William Yeoward themselves. Such design styles help echo the cultured Georgian period from where the brand derives its inspiration. Indeed, these crystal creations each express their own unique contemporary feel, where unusual cutting and engraving techniques combine to create a beautiful, practical and unique product that can only be William Yeoward Crystal.
But this is what William Yeoward are now, what where they before? The fact of the matter is that the William Yeoward brand itself had been running a successful business years before their extension into crystal. In fact it was Williams standing within the design world that made this extension into the crystal market so seamless. The driving force behind this extension however was a Mr Timothy Jenkins, who ran the crystal business 'John Jenkins'. An established family company which could trace its roots back to 1901, John Jenkins was recognized as an experienced business armed with in depth knowledge of the European crystal industry. It was Timothy Jenkins interest in antique recreations of 18th/19th century pieces which interested William Yeoward, who also expresses his love for these designs. After a chance meeting in 1993, both parties decided to collaborate. With William Yeowards standing in the design world, and Jenkins knowledge of such pieces, a collection of William Yeoward Crystal had began. Such pieces included some of the most unusual designs possible, such that had not been seen for over 150 years. Designs had to be as beautiful as they were functional, providing the perfect table settings to the most distinguished of homes. As it now stands, over 1000 pieces carry the William Yeoward Crystal tag.
The product ranges of William Yeoward Crystal are as varied as their styles are numerous. Typically for a crystal brand, there are a great number of wine glasses available in an even greater variety of shapes and sizes, a comprehensive collection you could say. These are backed up by selection of decanters and carafes, while more impressive is the display of centrepieces which can just dominate any room. The impressive Portia Cake Stand and Dome is a favourite of mine, proudly flaunting the finest of delicate dessert beneath! Very popular with bridal parties, wine glasses and other stemware are still what William Yeoward is best known for, so it would be disrespectful of me not to mention this. It is here where design takes precedent - the ability to change the classic, even standard format of a wine glass into something much more stylish and interesting is something that this brand excess in. But the list of variety simply goes on: candlesticks, hurricane lamps, paperweights, honey jars, vases, to go on would be purposeless. William Yeoward Crystal do not just have the depth of quality on their side, but they can back this up with the quantity of designs and styles that they employ, testament as to why such a brand deserves so much page space.
But when it comes down to it, it is always personal preference which prevails. This brief article has aimed to deepen your knowledge of the William Yeoward brand of crystal goods, evolving a faceless name to one with history and character, factors that William Yeoward has plenty of. As their back catalogue continues to grow, we can only wait to see what innovative design they take foreword next.
